Born in Indiana and raised in New Mexico from age 5, my husband, Al (‘Harv”), and I moved all the way to the east coast then back west to settle in Utah for 35 years. We raised our two sons there and have been blessed with 4 grandchildren. Missing New Mexico and warmer winters, we retired here 3 years ago. My vocation was teaching. I have taught adults to little ones ending with a dream job traveling out country working on Indian reservations with a program called, ‘Reading First.’ I have always been involved in my Christian community and a gift for organization has led to many service opportunities. I was especially impressed with Border Servant Corps and their mission. When asked to serve on the Board, I admit to not really understanding – and being able to explain! – what the entirety of our mission is. Two years in, I do feel more capable of explaining BSC, but definitely have more to learn. Learning about the service sites has helped me become more familiar with the needs of our border communities. Our volunteers are awesome and such fun to get to know and work with each year.
